Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2026

Introduction

NetStacks ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our network operations platform.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and organization details. This information is used to provide and personalize our services.

No Product Telemetry or Usage Data

The NetStacks application collects no telemetry. It does not gather or transmit feature-usage patterns, performance metrics, crash/error reports, command history, or device inventory — and contains no mechanism to do so. This is a permanent design commitment, not a current default. (This is separate from the basic download analytics our website records when you fetch an installer — see Website Download Analytics below.)

Website Download Analytics

When you download a NetStacks installer from our website, our web server records the download so we can measure aggregate download numbers. For each download we log the timestamp, the file requested, and standard request metadata sent by your browser: your IP address, user-agent (browser/OS), referring page, and preferred language. This data is stored on our own self-hosted analytics server — it is not shared with third-party analytics providers, and we use it only for aggregate download metrics and abuse prevention. Downloads are not gated: no account, email, or license key is required to download.

Network Data

NetStacks processes network device information, configurations, and credentials that you provide. This data is stored locally in your self-hosted instance and is never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly opt into cloud features.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain our services
  • To measure aggregate installer download numbers
  • To validate your license and entitlements
  • To notify you about changes to our services
  • To provide customer support
  • To detect, prevent, and address technical issues you report to us

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. All credentials are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM encryption. SSH connections use modern cryptographic algorithms, and all API communications are encrypted with TLS 1.3.

Self-Hosted Instances

NetStacks is designed to be self-hosted. When running your own instance, all data remains within your infrastructure. We have no access to your network devices, configurations, or credentials unless you explicitly share diagnostic information with us.

Third-Party Services

If you enable AI features, prompts may be sent to third-party LLM providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or self-hosted models) based on your configuration. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any third-party services you integrate.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • The NetStacks application collects no analytics or telemetry to opt out of. Our website does record basic download analytics (see above); to request access to or deletion of download records associated with your IP address, contact us
