Frequently asked questions
Is Professional really free?
Yes. NetStacks Professional is free — no card, no trial countdown, no license key to enter. Download it and use every feature.
Is NetStacks open source?
The cryptography that protects your credentials and sessions is already fully open source and independently auditable at github.com/netstacks/netstacks-crypto — the same crypto is used in every edition. The full NetStacks application source is being open-sourced very soon, the same way the crypto library already is.
Can I review the application source code?
Soon, in full. The cryptography library is public on GitHub today, and we're preparing to open-source the complete application shortly. Watch our GitHub organization for the repositories.
Can I import sessions from other tools?
Yes. One-click import from legacy terminal tools preserves your folder structure and session settings.
What does BYOK mean for AI?
Bring Your Own Key. You use your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, or a local Ollama instance. We never see your prompts or store your data.
What does Enterprise add over Professional?
The NetStacks Controller — a server-side platform for teams that adds shared credential vaults, configuration templates, stack deployments, scheduled tasks, RBAC, audit logging, SSO, and the alerts / incidents / profiling-agents plugins. Professional is the right choice for individual network engineers; Controller is for organizations that need centralized management.
